Shell Gadus S3 V460D 1.5 is a premium, high-performance extreme pressure (EP) grease designed for large, slow-moving industrial and mobile machinery operating under severe loads, high temperatures, and continuous shock forces. The "D" designator specifies that the grease is fortified with solid lubricants—specifically 1% high-purity Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS₂). It features a heavy ISO VG 460 mineral base oil combined with a high-temperature lithium-complex soap thickener matrix. The standout mechanical feature of this grease is its dual-mechanism wear protection. Under normal operation, the heavy 460 cSt base oil maintains a thick hydrodynamic film. When heavy shock loads, slow speeds, or oscillating vibrations threaten to break this film, the fine-particle MoS₂ solid lubricants physically plate onto the metal contact zones. This prevents direct steel-to-steel friction, scuffing, and localized welding. The custom NLGI 1.5 consistency is engineered to maximize pumpability in automated centralized lubrication networks while retaining enough structural body to resist running or thinning out of the bearing assembly. The 400 g cartridge is the standard, field-ready packaging format tailored for hand-held manual or pneumatic grease guns. It allows maintenance technicians to easily reload grease guns during inspection rounds without exposing the internal premium lubricant to external dust, coal grit, or moisture.
