Product Description

Shell Gadus S4 OGXK is an ultra-premium, semi-synthetic open gear lubricant designed specifically to withstand the harshest arctic and sub-zero winter environments. It combines a low-pour-point semi-synthetic base oil with an advanced aluminum complex soap thickener, reinforced with an extreme pressure (EP) additive package and a high concentration of solid lubricants (graphite and molybdenum disulfide). The primary engineering breakthrough of Shell Gadus S4 OGXK is its exceptional low-temperature pumpability without sacrificing oil film thickness. Traditional open gear lubricants become brittle and solidify in extreme cold, causing automatic spray system failures and gear chipping. Gadus S4 OGXK features an innovative solvent-diluent system that keeps the grease fluid and easily pumpable down to -50°C. Once sprayed onto the rotating gear teeth, the carrier fluid evaporates, leaving behind an incredibly sticky film with a base oil viscosity exceeding 50,000 cSt.This heavy, dark layer acts as a physical cushion against extreme vibration and heavy shock loads. If a sudden mechanical force pushes the liquid lubricant aside, the embedded graphite and $MoS_2$ solid particles remain plated onto the metal surfaces to block direct steel-on-steel friction, scuffing, and localized welding wear. The 180 kg heavy-duty steel drum is the standard bulk industrial package utilized across large-scale open-pit mining operations and polar processing plants. It is tailored to connect directly to automated multi-nozzle spray lubrication systems and centralized pneumatic drum pumps. This bulk format prevents contaminants like windblown ice, dust, and moisture from corrupting the grease, guaranteeing an uninterrupted, clean feed straight to high-value assets—such as the open gears, stickshifts, circle rails, and rollers of massive draglines, electric shovels, and excavators.
