Shell Melina S 30 is a high-performance, multifunctional SAE 30 system lubricant specifically engineered for low-speed marine crosshead diesel engines. Formulated with highly refined, high-viscosity index mineral base oils and an advanced additive package, it delivers outstanding protection for engine crankcases, piston cooling systems, and auxiliary marine machinery. Its 5 TBN formulation effectively neutralizes corrosive combustion acids that can leak past piston rod gland packing, protecting internal surfaces from acid corrosion. The oil exhibits excellent water-shedding (demulsibility) properties for easy water removal by centrifuging, rapid air release to prevent foaming, and high extreme-pressure (EP) performance suitable for reduction gears, turbochargers, stern tubes, and deck equipment. Key technical parameters include an ISO/SAE viscosity grade of 30, a kinematic viscosity of 104 $mm^2/s$ at 40°C, 11.6 $mm^2/s$ at 100°C, a viscosity index of 102, a density of 888 $kg/m^3$ at 15°C, a flash point of 227°C, and a pour point of -18°C.
