Shell Morlina S2 BL 22 (formerly known as Shell Morlina High Speed / Vitrea 22) is a specialized low-viscosity industrial bearing and circulating oil engineered specifically for high-speed machine tool spindles, automated equipment, and precision bearing systems. Formulated with light, solvent-refined mineral base oils and a zinc-free additive package, it minimizes frictional energy loss and heat buildup in ultra-high-revving machinery while maintaining continuous oil film protection. Its balanced rust and oxidation (R&O) inhibitor system resists thermal breakdown during continuous operation and provides non-reactive protection for soft-metal components, such as copper and bronze alloy bearings. Key technical characteristics include an ISO VG 22 viscosity grade, a kinematic viscosity of approximately 22 $mm^2/s$ at 40°C and 4.2–4.4 $mm^2/s$ at 100°C, a viscosity index of 105, a density of 854–870 $kg/m^3$ at 15°C, a flash point of 210°C, and a pour point of -33°C.
