Shell Morlina S2 BL 5 (formerly known as Shell Morlina High Speed / Vitrea 5) is an ultra-low viscosity industrial bearing and circulating oil engineered specifically for high-speed machine tool spindles, high-revving plain bearings, and automated precision machinery. Formulated using light base oils (including advanced Gas-to-Liquid / GTL technology in newer formulations) and a specialized zinc-free additive package, it minimizes fluid friction and heat generation at ultra-high rotational speeds. Its advanced rust and oxidation (R&O) inhibitor package prevents thermal degradation in high-temperature environments and ensures non-reactive wear protection for yellow metals (such as copper and bronze alloy components). Key technical characteristics include an ISO VG 5 viscosity grade, a kinematic viscosity of approximately 5.0 $mm^2/s$ at 40°C and 1.9 $mm^2/s$ at 100°C, a viscosity index of 120, a density of 806–869 $kg/m^3$ at 15°C, a flash point of 115–120°C, and a pour point of -30°C to -42°C. Meeting specifications such as Cincinnati Machine P-62 (ISO VG 5), it offers fast air release, rapid water separation (demulsibility), and exceptional corrosion prevention to maximize spindle operational accuracy and extended service intervals.
