Shell Naturelle S2 Hydraulic Fluid 32 (transitioning to Shell PANOLIN S2 Hydraulic EAL 32) is an advanced, fully synthetic biodegradable hydraulic fluid classified as ISO 15380 HEES and HFDU type less-flammable fluid. Formulated with synthetic esters and a zinc-free, ashless anti-wear additive system, it is engineered for high-pressure hydraulic and power transmission systems operating in environmentally sensitive areas. It features an average biobased content of over 80% (ASTM D 6866) and achieves over 60% biodegradation within 28 days (OECD 301B), minimizing environmental impact in the event of accidental leaks or spills. The fluid's naturally high, shear-stable viscosity index delivers multigrade temperature performance, enabling smooth low-temperature cold starts while maintaining full film strength at elevated bulk operating temperatures (up to 90°C). Its advanced additive package provides proven wear protection in heavy-duty components such as Eaton Vickers and Komatsu pumps, alongside excellent filterability, air release, and water separation properties to preserve peak system efficiency. Fully compliant with the EU Ecolabel, US EPA 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP), and USDA BioPreferred program, it is compatible with fluoroelastomer (FPM/FKM) and HNBR seal materials.
