Shell Rotella DD +40 is a high-performance, heavy-duty diesel engine oil designed specifically for two-stroke Detroit Diesel engines requiring API CF-2 lubricants. Formulated with low-ash additive technology, it effectively prevents valve guttering, ring sticking, and engine deposit formation under severe operating conditions. The oil features high thermal and oxidation stability to protect critical engine components from sludge and deposit build-up. Its robust corrosion and rust inhibitors shield internal surfaces during both active operation and extended idle periods. Typical physical parameters include a kinematic viscosity of 145 mm²/s at 40°C, 14.5 mm²/s at 100°C, a density of 895 kg/m³ at 15°C, a flash point of 240°C, and a sulfated ash content of 0.8%. It meets API CF-2 and CF performance specifications, as well as Detroit Diesel 7SE270 requirements for 2-stroke diesel engines.
