Shell Varnish Removal Fluid is a synthetic-based solvency enhancer designed to clean varnish and sludge from rotating equipment. Added directly to in-service oil at a recommended treat rate of 3% to 10%, it improves the oil’s solvency to dissolve varnish precursors and deposits. It is primarily used in turbines (steam, gas, and combined cycle), turbo-compressors, hydraulic systems, and heavy-duty gearboxes prior to a planned oil change. Formulated with a low aniline point, it provides outstanding varnish-dissolving capacity while remaining fully compatible with system seals, filter media, and equipment elastomers. It dissolves deposits without negatively impacting crucial oil properties like flash point, air release, or water separation. By effectively solubilizing internal contaminants, Shell Varnish Removal Fluid helps prevent valve sticking, keeps system surfaces clean, and extends equipment service life.
